Anna Stoyka Obituary

STOYKA: Mrs. Anna Stoyka, a resident of Toronto, died peacefully at Lake Shore Nursing Home on July 1, 2006. Anna was born in Fort William Ontario on April 9, 1912 to John and Mary Zeleny. She attended St. Peter’s and St. Stanislaus’ schools. On June 20, 1921 she married Alexander “Alex” Stoyka and they moved to Oba Ontario and built and operated the Alexander Hotel for 35 years. Anna loved fishing and camping. She was life-long member of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross Ukrainian Catholic Church and St. Anne’s Society. Anna is survived by her children Morris (Zenovia) Stoyka, Gerald (Marie) Stoyka, Lorraine Stockla (Paul Sider), 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, sisters-in-law Annie, Emily, Jean and Kay Zeleny. She was predeceased by her parents John and Mary Zeleny, husband Alexander Stoyka in 1961, sisters-in-law Anita Christoff, Rose Zeleny and Josie Zeleny, son-in-law Rudy Stockla, daughter-in-law Sylvia Stoyka, brothers Steve, Walter, Frank, Joseph Peter and Bill Zeleny, granddaughter Jeanine Stockla. Cremation has taken place and funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 12, 2006 when friends and family will gather for Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. in the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, Ukrainian Catholic Church in Thunder Bay, celebrated by Rev. Walter Krivoglavyi. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Should friends desire memorials to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Anna Stoyka in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 24, 2007.
